Joseph E. Foss
Managing Director

Joe Foss is a Managing Director of McShane Group, Inc. He is an experienced, highly respected and trusted organizational leader with vast experience successfully steering organizations through significant challenges, major transitions and corporate turnarounds. During the past 20 years, Joe has held positions as Chairman and CEO of a major regional bank headquartered in Washington, D.C., has served as the Vice Chairman and C.O.O. of a major league sports franchise and has been the Chief Administrative Officer of a multi-billion dollar privately held developer and operator of retirement communities.

Joe brings to McShane Group’s consulting practice the practical experiences and responsibilities of a seasoned day to day operating executive and deep knowledge of banking and credit operations. He has driven revenues and developed marketing strategies, managed cash flow and operating expenses, raised capital and directed banking relationships, restructured companies and management teams, sold assets and initiated a start up company. He has also managed construction and real estate development operations. Joe helped guide the largest geriatric medical practice in the U.S. and participated in the development of a new electronic medical records system.

Additionally, as a former banker and chief lending officer of a major U.S. banking company, Joe has been involved in literally thousands of financings of middle market companies in hundreds of industries. His 35 years in business has provided him vast experiences in multiple economic cycles.

Joe is active on several local boards including the Kennedy Krieger Institute, the Robert Packard Center of ALS Research with Johns Hopkins and the Believe in Tomorrow Foundation. Joe received an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Minnesota State University in 1972 and B.A. in business administration from St. Thomas University in 1970.
